Thought for the Day: Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen. I Peter 5:8-11 While the Apostle Peter warns us that we have an enemy, an adversary, who is prowling around like a roaring lion, whose mission is to steal, kill and destroy, we must not cower in fear but remember that he is only LIKE a lion; our Lord Jesus IS the Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5), who has come to give us abundant life (John 10:10) and who has given us the power and authority to use His Name to resist that enemy who is only like a lion, and to stop him in his tracks! As we resist him, answer a resounding “no” to his temptations, allures, he has no choice but to flee from us (James 4:7). Each time we resist, our Lord is strengthening, perfecting, confirming and establishing us – let’s spend some time today, simply bowing before Him in worship, adoration, praise – to Him be dominion forever and ever indeed!
