Thought for the Day: It is said that people believe what they want to. To a great degree that is true; however, we might add to that that people like to believe something that is shrouded in darkness and mystery rather than something spoken in plain sight. The darker the secret, the more intriguing it is. The more mysterious, the most inquisitive we are. The less familiar we are with it, the more curious we become. We might ask ourselves why is it that an obscure thing that is spoken can rouse our attention more than that which is spoken abroad. We become ho-hum about the things that have been witnesses and seen by many while looking in to and obscure corner for something to pique our interest. In the end, in whatever we choose to believe, it takes faith! We can look around to the dark and obscure corners of the world for some tidbit of an idea, some notion or philosophy to hang our lives out on. Or, we can go to that which was witnessed by the world and carried out by the Roman government before all to see. This event did not take place in a corner; but, on a hill outside Jerusalem before many witnesses, including those who were hostile participants. This event done during daylight hours was not hidden or done in secret. It was a part of the daily news that traveled across the then known world. It was undeniable; and, yet even today there are those who doubt the story. Why? Because it still comes back to faith! Would you this day rather hang your eternal wellbeing on something shrouded and hidden in a corner; or, would you believe that which was done before all to see?
