Thought for the day: met an Hispanic entrepreneur my age, 55, who is a naturalized US citizen who worked 40 years for a prominent Houston restaurant chain. He started as a dishwasher, and crossed the Mexican/USA border when he was 13 years old. This gentlemen was making nearly $200,000 a year as a regional manager for another regional restaurant chain. He told his wife that he wanted his own restaurant, HIS American Dream, he retired from his secure job, took the majority of his savings and opened up a Mexican Restaurant in a very competitive restaurant area in Houston. His prior employer always told him if you provide a clean restaurant, consistent food, and excellent service, the customers will find you. It may take some time, but it will eventually happen. It did. After 10 months in business, word of mouth and YELP has launched his business and hes off and running strong, and employing approximately 14 employees. Hes the Boss, but he turns on the lights, and turns off the lights every day. I can say he makes the best cheese enchiladas with onions in Houston. Whats the point of this story? This country is full of opportunity if you will work smart and work hard, at ANY AGE. How many of you want to live your American Dream, but have never let go of the security tree branch? Risk is not scary. Its a thrill ride that pays off if you work smart. Reagan Baccus Wolfe Jim Baccus , you know this fine gentlemen, as you told The Boss and me to try this restaurant. We did. We met the proprietor when he made me his special HOT diablo sauce and could not believe I ordered another one. CHAVEZ RESTAURANT on North Gessner. The end. I guess this turned out to be more of an advertisement.
