Thought of the day. Time has come when people of India should stop offering money and articles at religious places because money so collected at such places is corrupting the owners and people in managing committees. The people must understand the concept of charity, which means, we should help the needy in such a manner that he should stop begging and start earning his own livelihood. A beggar should not be given a fish in charity, but he should be taken to the river site and must be taught the art of catching a fish himself. If at all we want to donate at religious places, it should be to that extent that the managers could run that institution and they should not be given more money because more money hand corrupts the administration. We do not know much about our past, but at present the funds collected at religious places are being utilized for purposes other than religion. The news given to us through the media are turning us shameful throughout in the world. Let the nation think on this point and correct the system at religious places. All religious places should be brought out of individual ownership and must be handed over to the elected managing committees and the accounts must be audited by the state. Surpluses should be deposited in the state exchequer and should not remain with the religious institution because it is public money and must be utilized for the welfare of the public and should not lie in the religious institution to rot.
