Thought(s) and mind are synonymous. When I use the word thought I mean mind and when I speak of mind I mean thought. They are the same phenomenon. Thought is a symbolic representation (creative-construing) of Reality. Thought is a system which includes many components: emotions, images, self-talk, and more. This is why thought can be called a gestalt which is a German word meaning whole. Thought is a gestalt (system) that creatively-construes interpretations of Reality. Thought is the brains artwork. Your private thoughts are your own museum. I cannot see your museum and you cannot see my museum because they are subjective experiences composed of subjective qualities of that experience that only you can experience. For example, I cannot see your imagination of a purple sunset if I asked you to imagine it, but you can as a subjective quality in your subjective-experience. The qualities of subjective-experience are called Qualia by philosophers and scientists. Thus, a thought is a Qualia-gestalt experienced in consciousness. If thought is a symbolic representation of Reality then Qualia are also symbolic. That which is aware, observing, or witnessing the stream of consciousness and the unfolding river of Qualia-experience is to be Inquired into. This is the classic question of Sages such as Ramana Maharashi who ask who am I?. The answer to this question cannot come from a thought (mind) because thought is still part of the Qualia-stream of experience and this means a knowing deeper than even the mind has to realize who this aware, observing, witnessing, mysterious-consciousness Truly/Really Is. That which is aware of thought (mind/symbolic experience) cannot itself be a thought/mind. It is then what is meant in Zen Buddhism by No-Mind. It is Non-Symbolic-Witnessing-Awareness of the symbolic-realms of Qualia-gestalt of subjective experience and thought. It (the observing, witnessing, awareness of thought is Reality. Thus, thought and its symbolic representations of Reality are Witnessed by Reality which Is Non-Symbolic Awareness. That Which Is Watches the representations of What Is as the movement of thought (stream of consciousness) as entertainment. Pure-Is-ness is No-Mind Witnessing the play of mind. Pure-Is-ness Is Pure-Mystery without definition, description, limitation, or inference - only limitless intuition of the The Really-Real-Reality of Is-Itself.
