Thoughts on Drive Episode 1: *After watching it again with subtitles, I must say I love Drive a lot. But it only makes me want Kiriko to be Shinnosukes secondary that much more - after all, having a Shift Car on your person, apparently, is the only thing keeping you from slowing down when you meet an enemy. *To that point, though - I like that the characters themselves are shown slowed down during action. Like when Kiriko gives him the thumbs up. When I saw it online first, I thought I was just watching it on less-than-ideal connection speed, but now, it just feels not only purposeful, but sensible (in a way). *Everything Kiriko. The walls of my heart are lined with Kiriko posters. Moar Kiriko pl0x~ *This is just a nitpick, I shouldnt be hard on the show for not doing it, but it does kinda get to me - I just kinda wished theyd establish why Shinnosuke thought those two items were evidence. To the untrained eye (i.e. the viewers eye) they seem like trash on the ground. (Personally, I think itd be hella funny if they were revealed to be pointless, and he essentially Inspector Gadget-ed his way through the case, but lets hold off on that for now.) Let us know why he thinks its valuable, so we can not only keep up with the plot progression instead of feeling dragged through, but get a chance to look at Shinnosukes thought process and feel like were witnessing his genuine deductive skill instead of constantly being convinced. *I like Kirikos quirks, and Rinna is pretty cool so far, but I want to see them develop Honganjis fortune-telling vibe. Milk that for all the comic relief it can possibly provide. Itd probably be really decent. *I dont know *why* yet, but the space of the Special Unit makes me feel Fourze things. I cant explain it at all. And this was before I even saw the Drive Pit - I guess its just something about a group of disparate characterizations in a single enclosed space doing work. I will say, though - are they trying to be tongue-in-cheek about IRL Tokyo PD resources when they put a *Special Unit* in a shared office space so tight that all you can basically do in it is sit down and leave? It could just be a production-end set-resources thing, but IDK. Like, where does Rinna do her research? So thats it for now. Whatll next week look like? #HNSHN
