Thoughts on Leadership 94 Leadership Pitfall XIII -Poor Communication Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader cant get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesnt even matter. -Gilbert Amelio In every sphere of life, communication is very key. What we call community, teams or any other form of organized human interaction would be inexistent without communication - verbal or non-verbal. Thats how important it is. Some leaders would rather chitchat and complain than talk about vision. Poor communication can create division, lack of direction and misunderstandings. Communication keeps people involved and prevents them from getting disillusioned and losing commitment. Also, even the right information when in the wrong hands, can be counter-productive. Everyone cannot handle every information. For leaders, communication is not complete when information is merely passed across, but when the desired result is achieved. Leaders communicate with an end in mind and not merely as a duty. They are known to be skilled in the use of words and they do not say just anything to anyone. Actually, very influential leaders were often great communicators like Apostle Paul, Abraham Lincoln, General Dwight Eisenhower, Nelson Mandela, etc. Communication must be clear, purposeful, inspire enthusiasm, targeted and followed through. @Okwynweze BB PIN: 312862A4 Bon weekend!
