Thoughts on pastor appreciation month, it is a good thing to recognize your pastor. I am grateful for the love I received as a pastor. Now that I am retired from pastoring I feel free to voice my opinion about this. A pastor who commits to the task of caring and sharing Christ is invaluable. He or she is not there for monetary value of the task if they are really called by Jesus. Does not diminish the need for $. In my world as a pastor, if I did not do the job of visiting, caring, counseling, and preaching, people suffered. A tele-evangelist is not a pastor, most of them are actors wanting your attention and your money. A pastor is there when grandma is dying, when the baby is born, when the wolf trys to steal the sheep, and often in the night hours when you are sleeping, they are driving away the hordes of hell by praying for you and yours. I have not retired from ministry, only the pastorate, after 43 consecutive years. Now two and a half years since leaving that high calling we have looked back at good times and regrets, but I never regret serving the Master, Jesus Christ.
