Mbilwi Village residents near Thohoyandou in Limpopo set alight and stoned four homes belonging to people they claim were involved in a muti-related murder, said police on Monday. According to police spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi, communty members met with an elderly lady on Sunday. She allegedly told them the names of the people she believed killed Elina Mphaphuli earlier this year. “Members of the community then escorted [the elderly woman] to the Sibasa satellite police station and informed the members on duty about the information which the woman told them,” he said. “Soon after leaving the police premises, members of the community allegedly set alight one house belonging to a supposed suspect. Three more houses were severely damaged after they were stoned.” Mulaudzi said eight people were rescued from the vandals and were being kept at the local police station. No one was injured during these incidents. Last week, police offered a R100 000 reward for information that will help solve the murder. Mphaphuli was found dead and mutilated in Mbilwi, just outside Sibasa, in May. The body was found with some parts missing, and covered by a towel and rocks. (Source. SA BREAKING NEWS)
