Three Arrested for the Severe Beating of a man on Pleasant Street Worcester, MA (June 23, 2014) - On Saturday June 21, 2014 at approximately 8:46 PM, Worcester Police responded to the area of Pleasant Street and West Street for a fight. Upon police arrival they observed a 46-year-old male victim lying unconscious in the roadway near the sidewalk in front of 244 Pleasant Street. The officers observed that the male was suffering from serious face and head injuries. The victim’s injuries appeared to be life threatening. The Worcester Police Detective Bureau was called to the scene. The Crime Scene Unit arrived and processed evidence. The victim was transported to U-Mass Medical center (university campus). The victim suffered head and facial fractures and is in critical condition. Witnesses at the scene informed the officers that they observed a black male wearing a lime colored shirt beating the male victim. The male suspect was with two white females during the assault. One of the females was seen holding a metal pipe or bat and both stood by as the male suspect beat the victim. The three eventually fled in a motor vehicle. More than one witness provided the officers with the registration number to the motor vehicle that fled the scene. The officers ran the plate number and the vehicle was listed as a 1997 Geo prism. The owner was listed as Rachael Rizzuti, 26-years-old of 85 Prospect Street, Worcester. Police set up surveillance in the area of Ms. Rizzuti’s residence. Within in a short period of time, police observed the Geo Prism pass by with Ms. Rizzuti driving. The vehicle also occupied a female front passenger and a male rear seat passenger. The vehicle was stopped in front of 85 Prospect Street. The three occupants were detained while witnesses were transported from the crime scene to the location of the stop. The three suspects were subsequently identified as the suspects involved in the beating. The male suspect was identified as Gyasi Denis, 25-years-old of 112 Ronald Road, Arlington, MA while the second female suspect was identified as Andrea Sundin, 36-years-old of 2 Pelham Street, Worcester. Under a joint venture, all three suspects were placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and Battery, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bat) and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (cement). The three suspects will be arraigned today at the Worcester County District Courthouse today. This investigation is ongoing.
