Three Zambia National Soccer Team strikers Jacob Mulenga, James Chamanga and Christopher Katongo had joy in front of goal after they scored a goal each for their clubs over the weekend. Jacob Mulenga was back on the score sheet for his Eredivisie club FC Utrecht when he scored the third goal in their 4 – 2 home win over NAC Breda. This was Mulenga’s first league goal of the season though he was on target for the club in the Europa Cup. In China, James Chamanga’s quick goal in the second minute was not enough to save his club Liaoning Whowin from suffering a 4 – 2 defeat away to Guizho Renhe. Chamanga played 76 minutes of the game and this was his 9th goal of the season in 25 appearances. Christopher Katongo of Chinese second tier side Henan Jianye was also on target and rescued a point for his promotion chasing side as they drew 1 – 1 with Chengdu Blades. Katongo’s team is 5 points above the last promotion place with two games to go. This was his 10th goal of the season. In France, Emmanuel Mayuka completed 65 minutes in Herve Renards first game in- charge of Sochaux against second placed Monaco which ended in a 2 – 2 draw. Mayuka led the line as a lone striker in typical Renard fashion as the relegation threatened side came from a 2 – 0 deficit with goals conceded in the 5th and 10th minutes to equalize and move off the bottom of the log. However, the Zambian international striker was substituted with a thigh muscle strain. Chipolopolo midfielder, Chisamba Lungu came on as a second half substitute for his Russian club, Ural’s, 1-1 draw at Terek Grozny while in Cyprus, William Njobvu played in Enosis’s 1-1 draw to Aris. In Belgium, Rogers Kola was not named on the Bench for FC Gent in their 2 – 2 draw against Lokeren. In the Telkom Knock out in South Africa, Mukuka Mulenga continues to miss on the Mamelodi Sundowns team sheet but Kennedy Mweene was in goal but beaten twice for Sundowns to bow out of the competition against Platinum Stars via a 2 - scoreline. In Gira Bola round-up, John Mukisi reports that Jack Chileshe came from an injury of 3 weeks to help his club Primerio de Agosto to secure second place on the log after a 1- 0 win over Brovo do Maqui. Chileshe will thus play in the CAF Champion League. Lawrence Phiri played 90 minutes Progresso do Samizanga as he helped his club to a 2-0 win against Santos. Ephraim Banda played 70 minutes for Disportivo Da Huila and created the second goal for his club in a 2-0 win over Sagrada Esperaca. Danny Hangunyu also played for his club Benefica De Luanda. In CAF games, both Orlando Pirates and TP Mazembe qualified to the finals of the CAF Champions League and CAF Cup respectively. Collins Mbesuma was a late substitute for Pirates in their 1 – 1 draw against Esperance. Given Singuluma started for TP Mazembe while Hichani Himonde was on the bench in their 1 – 0 home win against Stade de Malien in the semi final of the CAF Cup.
