Three-year-old survives weekend pit bull attack David MacAnally/Eyewitness News Indianapolis - A pre-schooler faces more surgery after needing 250 stitches in a weekend pit bull attack. And the dogs owner faces stiffer fines under the citys new Dangerous Dog Ordinance. We asked the pretty little three-year-old, her beauty still visible through the bandages that partially covered her face, if it hurt when the dog bit her. Her name is Rayvin. And she said yes, it did hurt . The dog that bit her is called Felony. Felony, who is one year younger than Rayvin, is now locked up at Animal Care and Control. Little Raven is getting care at Methodist Hospital. My daughter is scarred for life, said the victims father Carl Crawford. I feel as if maybe the dog should be put to rest. Its a vicious crime. It happened Saturday afternoon in a yard in the Mars Hill area. Parents say Rayvins teen brother walked the little girl to a neighbors house to play with that couples 4-year-old granddaughter. Rayvins mother says the girls were playing with the dogs ball. According to Rayvins mom, Rene Robinson, the dog came out of the house and went for Rayvin. My baby was covered in blood and she had a rag over her face. Her face was torn apart. She says the bottom lip was split apart with a hole in the skin below the lower lip. Its a fathers nightmare, said Carl Crawford, and I just happen to be living it. The family thinks the dog is usually kept away from children at play but Saturday the dog got out of the house. It had to be an instant bite, said the victims father. Thank God it was quick. Animal control says the dog let go of Rayvin as soon as the owner called the dogs name. In the case of Amaya Hess last year, that pit bull would not let go and she nearly died. Back at the dogs house Monday a woman who answered the door said no comment. The city cited owner Paula Cooper for five violations including no proof of rabies shot, no ID tags and owner responsibility for a bite, under the citys new dangerous dog law. That makes that (the bite) a minimum $500 fine, said Animal Care and Control Spokeswoman Media Wilson, as opposed to a minimum of $50, which it was before. The dog Felony is to be held for 10 days. A judge will decide if shes put down. I hate to take someones dog from them, said Rayvins mother Rene Robinson. But look what it did to my childs face. Theres a fund set up at Chase Bank Branches to help with Rayvin Crawfords Medical expenses.
