Through the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade agreement, corporations are now seeking to go much further than their current recognition as legal persons where they already have even more power than any individual citizen due to the money available to them. They are now seeking to use the TPP to achieve recognition as legal nations (nationhood) where the cards (law) are stacked in their favour and they are able to challenge and over-ride current national laws that limits their ability to make profit or even just the potential to make future profit. Its way over the top and a very dangerous situation. There are many that are saying that it opens the door to rule by corporations globally and the end of democracy.
