Through the eyes of a volunteer: I have always wondered what Charity really means. Is it the act of giving money? Is it the act of giving your time? But this morning when talking to Krishnan - I realized it was neither of these. It is the act of giving when you yourself have nothing. I will tell you why I say this.. This has to do with Pandi Akshayas poster child, the man in the cement tube. These were narrated in the words of Krishnan. Last week a new resident was walking around without a shirt. So Pandi asks him why he is not wearing a shirt. The new resident responds - I dont have one, Pandi removes his shirt and gives it to the new Resident. My friends this is what according to me is charity. Here is Pandi who owns nothing, the clothes he wears are provide by Akshaya, the food he eats is provided by Akshaya.. he has a roof over his head because of all the support everyone has given him. Yet his heart is so large, he parts with what little he has. Thanks Krishnan for sharing what you saw. What a beautiful lesson about the soul, about compassion and about giving.
