Throughout September 2013, officers from the Community Policing Team at Banff will be carrying out a roads policing operation. The operation in the area is in response to concerns raised by local residents about speeding and anti-social driving. Officers will be paying particular attention to speeding in the outlying villages such as Portsoy, Whitehills, Aberchirder and Crudie and on anti-social driving in Banff. Sergeant Bruce Crawford of the Banff team said: "As a direct result of concerns raised by members of the local community, my officers have instigated this operation and will be working hard throughout September to pro-actively target those who speed or drive in an anti-social or dangerous manner. Officers will also be looking out for drivers using mobile telephones and failing to wear seatbelts. "If any member of the community has information about areas where this type of driving is a problem, I ask them to contact me and I will ensure resources are deployed in that area during this operation." Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Bruce Crawford at Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
