Throughout contemporary Messianic Judaism, one is likely to hear teachings about "the Rabbis." Throughout the independent Hebrew Roots movement, one is likely to hear teachings that involve references to not having a "Greek mindset." Those who think critically, and dissect the finer detail of various issues, should be immediately prompted to ask the important--and most obvious questions: "Which Rabbis?" and "Which Greeks?" After all, should we not recognize how there was internal diversity among the different sects of Second Temple Judaism, and the later figures of the Mishnah and Talmud? Should we not also acknowledge the diversity among, at least, a number of the notable Greek philosophical schools of antiquity? Do not accept any teachings that just haphazardly speak of a "Greek mindset," without any further specification. Just consider how diverse some specific Hellenistic views were about human composition, and whether or not there was life after death: tnnonline.net/faq/D/Dualism.pdf
