Throw Your Negative Thoughts Into the Trash… Literally If you or someone you know are plagued by anxiety, depression, or anything else that causes negative thoughts, here is one simple exercise that researchers from the Ohio State University claim has a positive effect: write the thoughts down on a piece of paper, and then throw away the paper. The Ohio State team set up a study asking high school students to write down either positive or negative thoughts, then either throw these thoughts away or contemplate and re-read the thoughts, before answering questions about their bodies. The students that held on to their thoughts, either positive or negative, answered the questions in a similar perspective as the thoughts they had written down. For those that threw their thoughts away, there was no difference in how they felt about their bodies. This research suggests that how much value you place in your thoughts determines how much they affect you. ow.ly/A8mGG
