Throwback Thursday. My youngest son Jonah is now 10 yrs old & he still loves to go out and about on our property on his own ( with his dog/pony etc) on what he used to call his ventures. When Jonah was approx 4 yrs old he would announce usually at breakfast that today he wanted to go on a venture (his way of saying adventure!) by the time he was six yrs old he would have us help saddle up his pony Mr Sox, grab his beloved teddy Caversham (he never travelled without Caversham), his favourite book at the time plus a sandwich, cookie, piece of fruit & drink ( well ventures are a hungry business!) and then he would have a long discussion with Mr Sox & Caversham so they all could decide where the days venture would happen -front or back yard- and away they would all go. I would love watching ( at a distance Mums dont venture apparently) and listening to Jonah narrating all he could see to Mr Sox & his trusty sidekick Caversham, it was never just the front or back yard it was always the forest, jungle or some other exotic destination they were on and oh the excitement if they saw another creature on their travels! Then after much exploring//discovering he would choose the perfect spot, dismount, set up the picnic site, settle Mr Sox & Caversham share out the food between the 3 of them and once all had eaten, read the storybook he had brought along with him aloud to Mr Sox & Caversham, unbeknownst to Jonah I would be behind a nearby tree, sitting leaning against the tree, eyes closed listening in utter contentment to this beautiful little soul reading ( complete with voices) earnestly to his two best friends his latest favourite story. I miss those travels today but I am so very grateful to have been included on those special journeys, that of a little boy,his pony and of course Caversham. More memories I will treasure forever
