Throwback Thursday post will most likely go up late today. It may even be an early Friday edition, BUT I am working on it. Question for you guys: what food/s, when you eat them or smell them, instantly transport you to another time and place? For me, and this is sort of a weird one, its a specific meal. Its a shoulder roast pot roast with mashed potatoes and peas. And the gravy from the shoulder roast. I used to request it as my birthday meal, and when mom would put my plate in front of me, the first thing Id do would be to mix the potatoes and peas into the gravy. Pretty unattractive, but I couldnt shovel it into my face fast enough. (Obviously, I was not one of those kids who didnt want their food to touch!) Even now, I can recall the texture--the slight starchy-graininess of the potatoes flavored with the intense pot roast gravy and the occasional *pop* of a wee pea. Sigh. =) What about you?
