Thunder Bay Resort Spotlight Thunder Bay Resort and RV Park - TopicsExpress

Thunder Bay Resort Spotlight Thunder Bay Resort and RV Park operates year round and includes a full list of accommodations including golfing, hiking and biking trails, and the famous Elk Viewing and Dinner and Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride in the winter months. With the help of IT professional Mr. Dennis Brewer, the resort has recently implemented a new iMesh technology to provide internet services through its ElkNet Wi-Fi network. The iMesh technology consists of 33 self healing wireless nodes mounted to various structures on the property. Self healing means that if any one access point fails, the nearest WiFi access point or node will take over to provide uninterrupted internet services at all times. This technology evens the playing field as far as the competition for the highest standards and internet capabilities among full service resort and lodging in the area. Allband has helped bring the resort up to speed by providing advanced FTTX or fiber to the home/business. The great thing about having Allband high-speed internet supplying the throughput for ElkNet is that once customers return from the Elk Viewing and Horse Drawn Sleigh ride, they can easily upload their pictures to the internet. “The thing that’s helping with marketing the resort is the uploads. Patrons finished with the Elk Viewing and Sleigh Ride Dinner can easily upload their pictures to Instagram and to Facebook, and we make it a point to to use ElkNet for that” said Mr. Brewer. In terms of marketing exposure, the benefits of all of the clients posting pictures to their Facebook or Instagram accounts cannot be beaten in terms of cost effectiveness per marketing dollar spent. Future plans for utilizing Allband high-speed internet include implementing smart TV’s in every room and to take advantage of the new IP based television content including Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon to name a few. Other plans include expanding the coverage of ElkNet to the entire golf course to allow patrons to use internet apps to track and improve their golf game, all in real time. The ElkNet WiFi network is unsecured, meaning anyone within range of the network can use the internet free of charge. This is a great benefit by Thunder Bay Resort to offer internet services to the local community that may need, but be living without internet services.
