Thunder rumbled in the distant Southwest and Northeast. The sky above brightened and the oak leaves out my window relaxed in charged, calm air. A break in last night’s thunderstorms had arrived. I paddled to the far shore and then a couple miles down Back River. Swallows swooped all around. Mockingbirds hopped on the highest cattails and poplars while bullfrogs croaked and groaned in muck. I thought you might enjoy these sounds of summer on the sleepy inlet that flows in from New Hampshire. Good morning, everyone. I hope the day finds you well.
