Thursday 22.05.14 Shag Rock, Old Love, Little Lightning. Doors: 7:00pm Door Price: $8.00 Playing Times: 7:20pm – 8:00pm: Little Lightning 8:20pm – 9:00pm: Old Love 9:20pm – 10:05pm: Shag Rock Fresh from topping the Triple J Unearthed Indie charts, Brisbane boys Shag Rock prove that there’s plenty to get excited about on the Brisbane music scene. Formerly gigging as the Kodiak Lawn Party, Shag Rock takes influences from the jungle vibes of Jinja Safari and the melodic power of Powderfinger, emanating the vibrancy of the Queensland lifestyle and its indie music scene. The launch of their EP “Little Primitive” comes after successful support slots for Jinja Safari and the Belligerents. Little were the residents of Brisbanes north side aware that living among them were five musically creative minds plotting to unleash a sonic sensation never before heard, or even comprehended. A sound which could only be most accurately described as the best of Brisbanes underground indie music scene crossbred with a rabid alligator. The very instant the band found the perfect mix of chemistry and skill the bands repertoire exploded like a forgotten beer in the freezer. Dark rock riffs, sweet melodies and thunderous drums, indie rock newcomers Little Lightning are already making an impression with their distinct sound. With only a handful of gigs under their belt, this Brisbane based three piece takes on the delicate art of creating music that evokes a sense of danger and risk whilst exposing a subtle beauty and splendour within, like that of a violent storm.
