Thursday, January 8: Hearing aids! A very busy day with multiple appointments directly after speech kept us going all morning. In clinic, labs were drawn in preparation for next weeks hospital stay. GMCSF shots start tomorrow, so we picked those up. At the audiologist, I got the run down on care and cleaning for his hearing aids. Then in they went! Lucas thinks they are fun and has been showing them off all day. They are purple, his favorite color and even come with stickers if we want to decorate. We are feeling so blessed today. Weve been waiting so long for these! I just know they will make a difference for Lucas! After seeing the audiologist, we zipped back to kaiser to see Dr Sonali. All the labs from the morning were in already, so we could see that his numbers are good. A blood transfusion is needed tomorrow to boost his numbers for next weeks treatment. His red blood needs to be over 10, his number came back 9.4. Last week I took Lucas off his appetite stimulant to see what would happen. His appetite remained constant and his weight is stable. Thats good news! We also talked about our next steps coming up. The end of the road seems within reach!
