Thursday Night Match report By oury very own Tom Clark. A 7:45 kick-off between Mighty Muppets, wearing a claret and blue jersey, and Toilet FC dressed in white shirts began with a fast paced which lead to an early shot from Mighty Muppets who had kick off in the first half. Fine saves from the Toilet FCs ‘keepers meant they could regroup and play their normal possession game. With quick passing and moving it was too much for defence of Mighty Muppets to handle. However with no real promising shots, the counter attack was on! A good solo goal from the Mighty Muppets striker gave them the lead. It wasn’t long after the restart that Toilet FC exploited the right back and with quick 1-2s it allowed two good shots to enter the back off the net. The score was now 2-1c to Toilet FC. As the game progressed, many great football skills were on display from both teams. When a free kick was awarded for the ‘over board height’ rule. Toilet FC saw the opportunity and took a quick free kick to extend their lead. In search for a few more goals before halftime, mighty Muppets pushed men forward. With a deflected shot for their second goal, the comeback was on leaving the keeper for dead. Moments to go before the halftime whistle, a laps of concentration from the Toilet FC defence this allowed an easy shot to be slotted bottom right. The score going into halftime was 3-3. A positive half for both teams allowed the second half to be free flowing and the playing level on show was top class. Not only with their passing but the skill showed by some of their younger players, Toilet FC managed to bag a couple of early goals in the second half. This clearly dented the confidence levels of Mighty Muppets as the players heads dropped instantly. 5 minutes into the second half there was a small pause for Mighty Muppets “super sub” to enter the field of play. The mighty Muppets then managed to pull one goal back making the score 5-4. Toilet FC’s captain ordering, “The next goal has to be ours!” sparked a counter attack to allow their goal advantage to be doubled. The next 10 minutes of the game was rampant from Toilet FC, scoring another 3 goals in quick succession. Heading toward the final whistle, both teams were easing off the pace, Mighty Muppets sat back and tried not to concede any more goals. However the strike force of toilet fc proved too much for Mighty Muppets to control. The game ended 10-4 with 2 goals scored in 2 minutes from Toilet fc. A well-deserved win for the men in white with a great 3 points to help them climb the league ladder.
