Thursday Night Talk - Tala Mai..... heres an awkward situation. Your advice wanted please. Dear NIU, So my best friend dated a girl Ill call Sara for a couple of months and it didnt work out so they broke up amicably. Last week we had a work do and a few of us went out afterwards and I saw her at a club in town. I had had a couple of drinks, not drunk but feeling good so I thought Id go up and say hi. Sara was ahead of me in the drinking stakes and it was easy having a conversation with her. Obviously, the topic of her and my best friend came up and then she said something that shocked the hell out of me. When the topic of her and my mate breaking up came up she started laughing and said Oh, like you dont know why. I said, as far as I knew it just didnt work out and that you guys broke up on good terms. She laughed again and said that yes, they did break up on good terms but the reason why they broke up was because my best friend isnt into girls at all. Hes gay. I had to laugh then, Ive known him since High School and theres no way he could be gay. Sara said that she thought I knew and that my best mate even confessed to her that he has strong feelings for me. This freaked me right out and I had to leave and go home. I dont know what to do now. Ive been avoiding catching up with my best friend and Sara has begged me on Facebook not to let him know she told me. Seriously, Ive got nothing against gay people but if I ask him and he is, then it confirms what Sara says, if he says he isnt, hell ask me why the hell I asked him and Ill feel like an idiot and a sad friend.
