Thursday after Ashtanga, Katie showed the class of an one legged arm balance pose that we do sometimes. The name of the pose is Eka Pada Koundinyasana I, or One Legged Pose of Koundinya I. Koundinya is a sage of ancient India. In Hatha yoga it very common to name the more advanced poses with the names of the sages. There is also a common variation in which you place the leg on the opposite arm, which is called Eka Pada Koundinyasana II. See the pictures of these two poses.
