Ticket to Ride, App - Just tried out the Local mode. Its similar to Pass & Play, except everyone gets to use their own tablets rather then sharing one tablet between everyone. The other half and I played this using two apple devices so I cant say either way if this would work between for example one Apple device and one Google device (if anyone does try this out please let us know if its possible :) ). You need to make sure that the Bluetooth on all devices is switched on or that you are all in range of some sort of WiFi connection for this to work. In this mode a game can be played by up too 5 people and they dont all have to be human, you can play against computer generated opponents as well which does add a little more fun to the game IMO just from the 4-5 games the husband and I played in this mode, non human opponents were fantastic, they went at a much quicker pace so helped to speed up the game somewhat and were a little more unpredictable as to what they might do next (I have found some humans tend to play a similar way each time they play) All opponents are on the top left of the screen and your at the bottom. You can clearly see how many route cards an opponent has (though not how many they have completed) and how man trains they have left dont forget to keep an eye on that so no one has 2 or less trains left before youve had a chance to use a lot of yours. And lastly the person who sets up the game always plays as green, I think Ill give this version a 4.5 out of 5 only because its so easy to play this game with friends using the tablet rather then using the physical board games, for me you loose something when its through a device (holding cards in your hand, placing the trains down etc). Other then that its fantastic and I highly recommend trying this version out, especially if you dont have a physical board game to hand and the room or time to set it up.
