Time Lesson-Resolutions for the New Year—and Every Day in It For a blessed and incredibly happy new year: Remember yesterday, but dont romanticize (or regret) it. Seize today but dont cling to it. Live for tomorrow but not in it. REPEAT: By God’s grace and for God’s praise, Lets resolve to: Remember yesterday, but not romanticize (or regret) it. • Psalm 77:10—“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes I will remember your wonders of old.” • Ecclesiastes 7:10—“Say not ‘Why were the former days better than these’ for it is not from wisdom that you ask this.” • Philippians 3:13—“Forgetting what lies behind…I press on…” Seize today, but not cling to it. • Ecclesiastes 9:7-10—“Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do. Let your garments be always white. Let not oil be lacking on your head. Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might • 1 Corinthians 10:31—“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” • 1 Timothy 4:1ff and 6:17—“For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer… God…richly provides us with everything to enjoy.” • Philippians 4:12, 13—“I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Live for tomorrow, but not in it. • Refuse to live in tomorrow either through boasting or anxiety (Proverbs 27:1; Matthew 6:34), but do live for tomorrow—for That Day when the Upward Call is heard and every deed will be brought into judgment. • Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14—“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” • Philippians 3:13—“One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind, and straining forward for what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Happy New Year!!!
