Time flies. Ive posted this exactly 2 years back in 2012 on the 1st day of the Lunar 7th month, and today while searching for information on Google, I stumble upon my own post, and just nice today is the 1st day of the 7th Lunar month too! For those who had not yet Liked my FB page in 2012, below is a repost of what I posted on 7th lunar month back then... Today is the start of the Lunar 7th month, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival. It is our Chinese belief that during this period, the Gates of Hell is opened, in which spirits and ghosts will come out of the lower realm to pay a visit to the living. Taoists, Buddhists and even non-believers will perform rituals (in different ways) to applease the spirits that are roaming among us. Of course, many people will ask Can we see house Feng Shui during this period? Can we calculate wedding dates or book our hotels during this period? Can do we Bazi analysis during this period? If you ask me, of course you can! We can do house Feng Shui, we can calculate wedding dates and we can do bazi destiny analysis. The 7th month will not affect you in any way if you do all these! Pure Chinese Metaphysics has nothing to do with Pantang-ness and I also dont see any form of pantang-ness in this anyway. So, do I totally dont care about Chinese beliefs? Not true. It is also our Chinese belief that we should not start house renovation, move into a new house or hold weddings during this period. Although not Feng Shui, this is a belief that is deeply rooted in our Chinese culture/beliefs and I do stand by it and advise my clients the same thing. So long as you are Chinese, we follow this rule. For my overseas or non-Chinese clients, their culture will differ and I follow and respect their culture too to make it the best of both worlds. Of course, I also have a few clients that called or sms me these few days to change their wedding dates calculation appointments to after 7th lunar month as their parents are pantang about it. I do respect that too. After all, we still have to please them And to end with some good news, since today is the start of the 7th lunar month, it is also the start of the month with no OT-ing for those who are superstitious about it. For those who are not, then you can become superstitious for once so that it gives you a good excuse to go home on the dot! :)
