Time for a heart to heart....CANCER is very personal to me! Not so much keep it to myself personal but personal as in, its what Im made of, what lays inactively inside me and what I found or should I say found me in order to show me the courage, strength, determination, resilience, passion, faith and appreciation needed to live and survive any fight or battle that came after. Now, that said....I am a woman, a mother, a wife, a hairstylist, a survivor!.!. Its my job, my duty even to talk and equally as important to listen. Ive been let into the hearts and lives of so many amazing people, who have all become part of my heart, soul and passion: men, women, warriors, survivors, the faithful, and the grateful who have all been similarly effected by the same disease. Lymphoma and cervical cancer are my demons. My loves, (most of you and many more) have been affected by;lung, breast, prostate, colon, pancreatic, thyroid, cervical, ovarian, skin, bone, brain and more...Each one deserves a conversation!.!. Each one remind us to be our own advocate (be self aware, pay attention to your body, have yearly physicals with physicians you trust, talk to openly and rely on to give all blood test options and information available -early detection is key) and honestly recognize that if you dont take care of yourself or have conversations with those you love and give pieces of your heart to,who will? If the conversations arent had it can all be taken away in the blink of an eye. October is breast cancer awareness month and time for us to have this specific conversation...Its time for pink ribbons and pink hair as conversation starters or gestures of support, and boob touching and mammograms for early detection and prevention !!!! It was estimated that in 2014 there would be almost 250,000 women, and yes men too, newly diagnosed (not including reoccurrence) with breast cancer in the US and 40,000 will lose their war. So again,Early detection is key;touch your boobs, with permission touch someone elses boobs, schedule a doctors appointment/ mammogram and be informed. I became more vocal and COLORFUL about breast cancer after watching and supporting someone I love and admire, loose so much yet fight, defeat and survive her demon... That was enough to inspire me to have this conversation as often as needed to help prevent even 1 of those 40,000 deaths from being someone I love... My pink conversation piece goes in my hair this week along with several of my pink ladies, when your ready for your conversation starter give me a call!!! Hugs, kisses and prayers of continued hope, strength, and good health to you all ~J
