Time for a new political movement? Not another party, but a grass roots movement, with individual independents who align broadly with certain ideals, but have their own individual stance and perspective, and look after local issues as well. In Mackellar, we are a rusted-on Liberal seat with no dynamic vision from our local member. Bronwyn Bishops political vision - lovely gentlewoman though she is - is stuck in the 1950s somewhere, and we need rescuing! Currently we are fast becoming moral refugees, devoid of care for strangers or nature. We need a candidate who is: - fiscally conservative (maybe a business or small business person); - socially inclusive and compassionate (has empathy with the desperate); - ecologically aware and scientifically literate (BB says climate change is all piss and wind). Sounds like the Greens, you say? Well, maybe in part, but up here any Greens candidate wont get to first base outside of the central Avalon polling booth - simply because they are capital G Green. We need somebody who is: - Blue in supporting free enterprise and reward for effort; - Red in supporting minorities and disempowered workers; - Green in looking after country: not allowing mining and fossil fuels to rule the roost, protecting agriculture and water. A kind of Rob Oakeshott or Tony Windsor really. (Guys! - why did you leave us!?) Any nominations in Mackellar? Bradfield? Warringah?
