Time for a rant... Dear my electricity supply company (who will remain nameless but is very similar to the name of the first book of The Bible) Thank you for your recent letter informing me of power price changes. Being March, it had the faint whiff of inevitability usually associated with death and taxes. Your next paragraph informing me that my prices would actually be going up was disappointing as your first sentence merely said they were changing. My disappointment eased when I remembered I was neither the Tiwai Point Aliminium smelter or Judith Collins. It was informative for you to add that the price increase was also due to the increased costs incurred by third parties. May I suggest that the fourth party you conveniently omitted was that of your profit margin. Finally, thank you for informimg me of your goal of being competitive in a truly competitive market on my behalf as a customer. It truly destroyed my previous misconception that the retail electricity market is but the biggest scam in town. Yours Sincerely Sigmund Sue.
