Time to Adopt-A-Highway and ‘fall sweep’ roadsides, help preserve the scenic beauty of the Commonwealth Fall Sweep Week set for Sept. 15-21 Volunteers will be out in force to “fall sweep” state highways in northeast Kentucky next week, Sept. 15-21, as part of the Transportation Cabinet’s Adopt-a-Highway Fall Sweep Week. In Department of Highways District 9, about 35 percent of state roads, or more than 600 miles in Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas and Rowan counties, are adopted. Groups interested in becoming members of the Adopt-a-Highway Program can find details and district coordinator information online at transportation.ky.gov/adopt-a-highway.
