Tommy Beaudreau, a top Interior Department official,tells Platts Energy Week TV that the agency will soon start constructing its next five-year offshore leasing plan, which will cover 2017-2022. A big question: Will it allow oil-and-gas development in Atlantic Coast waters that are now off-limits? It is something we are going to take a very hard look at. The new five-year planning process for the period 2017-2022 will actually start this summer, said Beaudreau, head of Interiors Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. One of the areas that we will be considering are those mid- and south-Atlantic planning areas.
