Time to change rigidity into bonhomie: Tarigami to Indo-Pak Anantnag neglected town: Kisan leaders Srinagar, August 3: Urging India and Pakistan to appreciate the phenomenal societal change across the border and to shed, old way of thinking, the CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today called for resumption of structured dialogue between the two countries to resolve all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a party convention at Khanbal in Anantnag, the CPI (M) leader said people of Kashmir are forced to bear the brunt of disruptions in Indo-Pak dialogue. “Now the time has come that rigidities must be replaced with bonhomie and both the governments should realize urgency of this commitment and make serious efforts to move forward and revamp the stalled peace process,” he stressed. The CPI (M) leader opined that the resolution of Kashmir issue is in the interest of both the countries and the same has the potential to bring peace and prosperity in South Asia. “It is ironic that resources which need to be utilized for the welfare of the poor and the hungry are being used to keep vigil on glaciers. The two countries should end the path of confrontation and go for reconciliation to resolve all outstanding issues including Siachen, Sir Creek and Kashmir.”He said with the new government in Pakistan people across the border are looking for a fresh and refreshing approach in foreign relations of the two countries. “In order to restore the lost mutual confidence, the two countries need at least, to resolve less contentious issues to pave way for resolution of other outstanding matters.” Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Ahmad Ganaie, district secretary CPI (M) said that the administrative inertia vis-à-vis developmental schemes in South Kashmir particularly in Anantnag district are appalling. He said the administration seems in deep slumber which has resulted into black marketing, ration pilferage and loot in the markets. “People are suffering for want of ration, other essential commodities and the administration seems not in a mood to act. The officers have confined themselves to the four walls of their offices. There is no visible outcome of their meetings which have now become a ritual,” Ganaie added. Mohammad Yousuf Wani, senior CPI (M) leader, while highlighting the official apathy in Anantnag district, said there are hardly any visible changes on ground with regard to development and infrastructure building in this district. “The tall promises that have been made often by the successive governments in the state are yet to be fulfilled.” While blaming the successive governments for neglecting the district, he said the poor condition of roads and bridges, inadequate road connectivity, absence of proper healthcare facilities, lack of proper educational infrastructure, unemployment of educated youth, frequent breakdown of electricity, lack of safe drinking water facility and non-availability of essential commodities across the district bear witness to the hollowness of claims of development of the area by the administration. The convention was presided by Ghulam Ahmad Ganaie, district secretary CPI (M) Anantnag. Various other CPI (M) leaders who addressed the convention include Abdul Hamid Wani, Ghulam Hassan Hargah, youth leader Mohammad Iqbal Wani, Sabzar Ahmad, Farooq Ahmad and writer Zaffar Ahmad Salathi.
