Time to get grossed out..... On their own Tribactii are animialstic parasites that control the nervous systems of their hosts to survive climates too harsh for a two foot long centipede. The planet Tribact is full of harsh predators and gargantuan prey, but nothing capable of sentience. This changed with the arrival of humans. Tribactii mounted onto human hosts were capable of thought and emotions but forced removal resulted in the death of both the host and parasite. An extermination was to follow and humanity would continue on its way through the stars were it not for politics. The legality and moral right of killing a creature that can think and feel for a crime it had not option in committing caused issue. A huge media and legal campaign worked for Tribactii rights and granted them citizenship equal to that of their hosts as long as they only mount onto the recently deceased as opposed to living humans. Now Tribactii exist in galactic society as publicly accepted citizens but privately revolting nuisances. Tribactii donation clinics where bodies may be given for hosting are the last call for the financially desperate. Tribactii on the other hand are equal parts eager to prove their trustworthiness and resentful of their treatment by humans. They maintain some of the memories of their hosts past life and may fall into all occupations or habits but they lack the deepest knowledge of their hosts. Tribactii feel no pain on the part of the hosts allowing them to survive massive damage and continue to function while approaching death. However the parasite itself, attached to the base of the skull, accessing the nervous system through the brain stem, is quite fragile only being able to take slight damage before expiring.
