Time to get technical NVIDIAs MAXWELL VS. AMDS TONGA R9 285 Tonga GPU is getting released in few hours. R9 285 is just a replacement for R9 280 but energy efficient. Its TDP is 190 watt (2 x 6 pin) and better than GTX 760, but weaker than GTX 770 and priced at 249$. R9 285X which is R9 280x energy efficient model, will be released after few weeks with an estimated pricetag of 300$ and performance level of GTX 770. But estimated to have a TDP of 220 watts or greater. Ok, heres comes the twist. GTX 860 maxwell. It packs the power of GTX 770 and will have a launch price of same as GTX 660, GTX 560 i.e. 250$. It will have 1 x 6 pin which means less than 150 watts (not officially confirmed). Now, its confirmed that GTX 870 will use 2x 6pin (around 190 watts), which means same as R9 285. But GTX 870 packs the power of GTX 780 and costs 349$ whereas R9 285X (300$) is in par with GTX 770. As per my calculations, GTX 860 is ~15% stronger and consumes 40-60 watt less than R9 285. Costs same 250$. And, GTX 870 is ~30% stronger, ~50$ more expensive and consumes 30-50 watts less than R9 285X. So, MAXWELL is definitely better than TONGA and cheaper. Tonga dont deserves to be the rival of Maxwell. #Nafia
