Time to stop an Israeli ship again What: Mass march and picket When: 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25 Where: Gather at West Oakland BART and march to the Port of Oakland Goal: Stop Israeli ship Zim Shanghai from unloading or loading its cargo This is a global movement. If Israel will not allow shipping to and from the port of Gaza, Israeli ships will be turned away from ports around the world. Workers in Oakland have said that they will respect our picket lines. If you are not in Oakland, please spread the word any way you can and tell everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area to come. The success of this march and picket depends upon turnout. We will stay on the picket line in two shifts daily of approximately three hours until the ship sails without unloading or loading. The last Oakland picket took around four days of morning and afternoon shifts. Bring appropriate signs, banners, Palestinian flags and bikes. If you can bring your car to help take picketers from the West Oakland BART to the picket site, please reply to this message or call 510-232-2500. From the organizing committee: Text “Join” to 88202 for alerts on ship location and picket status Twitter: @StopZIMOak Webpage: snurl/stopzims27 Inquiries: stopzimoak@gmail / (415) 867-0628 A “sustained picket” means we will picket the Zim Shanghai from when it arrives until it leaves the Bay. Morning assembly: 5am, West Oakland BART (starting September 27th) Afternoon assembly: 4:30pm, West Oakland BART Carpools will be available. The ship is expected at the SSA terminal in the Port. Typically, each picket will last only a few hours until longshoremen decide not to cross the picket. It may last longer depending on the situation. Volunteers are need for all shifts, but especially morning shifts and the first day (morning of September 27th). Please check your phone/Twitter/FB for updates on the ship location and picket status, particularly the day before. ZIM may delay the ships arrival to avoid picketers. = To unsubscribe from this list send a blank email to [email protected].
