Time travel - whos coming? Jumped into the ol time machine. That thing sure makes racket when I power it up. Neighbors probably wonder what the heck is going on in my basement. I imagine its only matter of time before the authorities come knocking. Anyhow, I set the dial to Christmas 1934 and 1935 and I stopped in at Macys department store in the Big Apple. That city sure looks all dolled up this time of year with fantastic window displays and twinkling Christma...s lights everywhere. Macys is every childs dream destination this time of year. Disney toys dominate the shelves and Disney characters appear on all-manner of point-of-purchase displays. I stopped by and said hello to jolly ol St. Nick and look what I got in return. A couple of ultra rare Disney premiums. Mickey Mouse and Minnie at Macys was published in 1934 and runs 144 pages. The book tells the story of the Pilgrims. Mickey Mouse and Minnie March to Macys also runs 144 pages and tells the story of the duos trip to New York. Both books were published by Disney licensee Whitman and were printed in the same style and format as the then-popular Big Little Books. Unfortunately, the line to see Santa was too long to go another round and the batteries for my time machine were dying, so I was only able to secure one copy of each. Better luck next year, I suppose. See an image of the second book in the comments section below. And thanks to my friend Dennis Books for sharing these images. Hes the real owner of the books pictured in this post.
