Tip for library users: If you check out an audiobook/cd/dvd and the disc skips, do not, I repeat, do not quietly replace it in the case and drop it in the dropbox. When the people who check in discs open the cases, they are checking to make sure each disc is there and in the proper numerical order - theyre not pulling each disc out and checking the reverse side for scratches, because thats time-consuming and adds extra wear and tear to the discs. So, unless you tell us the disc is bad - we wont know. And, the discll stay bad. This is something that happens over the course of time - for instance, if you bring an audiobook to the desk thats circulated 50 times and a lot of the discs are scuffed, well know its not your fault and we wont take away your card and frown a lot and charge you money. What we WILL do if send it off to mending so the faulty disc(s) can be replaced.
