Tip of the Day - Gouache - Gouache (pronounced gwaash) is a heavily pigmented water based paint. I usually use this paint for highlights. When using gouache its important to remember several things. First, it dries really fast. Second, when thinned with water it has a tendency to look chalky. And third, dont rinse your brush in the same water you use for your watercolors (it will dull the colors). Below I used white gouache in the cow, the seagull, around the eye of the goldfish and I watered it down a little to do the bubbles. Usually I use gouache straight from the tube with a dry, clean brush. Have fun.
