Tip of the week - Thinking of purchasing a #Domain name for your company or organisation? The general rule of thumb is is worldwide and .co.uk is to show organisations or companies located in the UK. If you are thinking of purchasing a domain name, our advice is to purchase this yourself with your own biz or credit card. We recommend GoDaddy or 123 Reg. We also recommend purchasing at least both domains .co.uk and so anyone making any errors ie typing in the incorrect address will still find you. If someone else is purchasing your domain for you, make sure you are shown as the owner or have a contract in place with the purchaser to show that you own the domain name. At the very least have admin rights so that if anything should turn sour, at least you can notify the company your domain name was registered at that you are the owner of the company & the domain name is yours (worst case scenario). Thankfully situations arising from this are rare, but we chat to biz owners who have made these simple mistakes, which can become costly if things go wrong ...
