Title: What to do when your internet isnt working... On Friday afternoon, our internet stopped working. The dodo brains that were supposed to be doing an update on our system messed it up. Of course they were going to fix it...ON MONDAY!! Unlike most Italians, I usually catch up on work during the weekend... however, not THIS weekend. As a good friend of mine, Kelly Pensom, used to say Roll with the punches. Ive taken her advise with great weight over the years as its served me well. Another good saying is, When life gives you lemons, learn to make lemonade. In my case, Ive made apple pies, apple sauce, and apple preserves. You see, rather than being aggravated over the fact that I: 1. couldnt catch up on my TV shows (I hate Italian TV so I stream all American shows..) 2. didnt have the use of home phone (because I only have VOIP and cellular reception is terrible) 3. couldnt mess around on FaceBook (which I use for the sole purpose of avoiding the work that Im supposed to be catching up on), I decided to take my friend Nicoletta up on her offer... Lets just say that it involved me climbing a tree in our orchard to the very top, and throwing apples down to Nicoletta and Elena so they could catch them and put them in a basket. As you can see, Im still in one piece. During the weekend without the internet, I also sewed those curtains I had been avoiding, cleaned the house from top to bottom (which isnt a really big accomplishment since the entire house is only 500 sq. ft.), and cooked like we were about to go into war. I think that Elena believed that war a literal possibility because she ate like it was the last good meal that she would get in a while. One particular item that she seemed to favor was a huge pot of cream of sage and cauliflower soup.. Three meals, it was gone. Apparently she liked it. All in all, it was pretty sweet lemonade.
