Titus 1:7-16 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucres sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. As we look at this passage of scripture tonight, I have heard so many ask, Why should we get involved? Why should we even concern ourselves with others in this world? Why should we not just keep to ourselves? I had someone say the other day that even in the midst of a disaster they would never ask someone if they could pray with them. Why? They said, That could offend someone!!!!! Really? In America, the country whose motto is, In God We Trust? In the country with Under God in our pledge? In a country which sings God Bless America as well as the Star Spangled banner at professional baseball games? In a country where God was the reason it was created? And Im not suppose to ask someone who has just been devastated by a disaster if they want prayer? Really? Now I realize that this passage is speaking about bishops, which is an overseer, but it really goes for all of us christians. All of us are called to share the gospel. As we have talked about many times, the great commission in Matthew 28, and Mark 16, to go into all the world and teach every nation. Acts 1:8 tells us that He has given us the power to be witnesses for Him!!!!!!!!! Paul said that he was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation. So why should we take a stand for God? Why should we take a stand for His Word? Because its the right thing to do!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, thats the reason. We should seek to do what is right, because its the right thing to do!!!!!!!!! Not for money, not for what we can get out of it, not for fortune pr fame, but simply because its the right thing to do!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two things that we have lost in America that has really hurt us as a nation as a whole is personal responsibility and a sense of morals!!!!!!!!!!! People today seen to think that everything that they do wrong is somebody elses fault, and they have put aside their morals for greed and personal gain!!!!!!!!!!! We are no longer concerned about the good of the people, but about the good of ourselves. We have become greedy and selfish!!!!!!!!!!! Where along the way did we lose the concern for the greater good? Psalm 33:12 tells us, Blessed is the nation, whose God is the Lord. Psalm 112:1-2 says, Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Psalm 119:1-3 says, Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. We should be seeking to follow God and His ways and allow Him to work through us, because its the right thing to do!!!!!!!!!!!!! God loves us, God has called us to do His will, God has called us to be apart of His plan and wants to use us for the greater good of all mankind, but we have to quit fearing what others may think or say and start serving Him!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know about you, but I want to make a difference in this world, I want to serve God while serving people. Im not worried about riches, I just want to serve my God and help others and be counted on to stand for what is right!!!!!!!!!! I am not ready to give up on saving this wonderful country yet. Are you? Im not ready to give up on those that are lost and on the way to hell. Are you? Think about the words of Charles Spurgeon that we mentioned the other day, IF SINNERS BE DAMNED TO HELL, AT LEAST LET THEM LEAP TO HELL OVER OUR DEAD BODIES. AND IF THEY PERISH, LET THEM PERISH WITH OUR ARMS WRAPPED AROUND THEIR KNEES. IF HELL MUST BE FILLED, LET IT BE FILLED IN THE TEETH OF OUR EXERTIONS, AND LET NOONE GO UNEARNED OR UNPRAYED FOR. Remember the words of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free. We need to return to the roots and beliefs of our ancestors and return to God!!!!!!!!!!! Let us seek God and do what is right, simply because its the right thing to do. No other reason.
