To: All IAAI Members & Other Agents Dear Colleague, The final hearing in Kerala High Court with regard to our case for Commission was over on 13 Jan 2015. Our prayer to the Hon court was only to direct the Regulator DGCA to execute, implement and enforce their own order of 5th March 2010 and MoCA order on 16th September 2013. Though Ministry of Civil Aviation & DGCA has already uploaded the said orders on their website for information and follow-up by stakeholders , nothing yet effected . Interestingly, Lufthansa Airlines also impleaded into the case as a party affected to this case. The case has been posted for judgment and let us hope for a favorable verdict to us . In-between, our IAAI Team led by Mr Biji Eapen had detailed discussions with the Country Heads of several International and Domestic Airlines who are holding dominant positions in the Indian market share, with regard to the payout of commission, parity of fares etc. As a matter of great satisfaction and trust in Indian travel agents fraternity, all of them have been open and frank in expressing their views and a very favourable action and support from these Airlines are expected very soon . Presently., the issues are only on the modality of the payment of commission, to which, we at IAAI, is very specific and firm on the MoCA interpretations that the word “Commission” can be terminologically termed as “transaction fee, service fee or conveyance fee” but must be a component or integral part of the fare which forms the “Tariff” and not to be charged over and above the ticket fare. Let us hope for good times to be back soon , paving the way for cordial and mutually beneficial airline - agency relationship . Will keep you posted and looking forward to your satisfaction and support With regards D L Jekannathan General Secretary- IAAI
