The NJSPCA removed 20 dogs living in deplorable conditions. The seized dogs were living in feces and urine with several of the dogs heavily matted in feces. The operation was coordinated with the Salem County Animal Control, the Penns Grove Police Department, and led by Lt. Thomas Yanisko, and Detective Larry Donato of the NJSPCA along with assistance from NJSPCA Agents Shannon and Steve Schamelia. The Penns Grove Fire Department provided much appreciated logistical support. The seized dogs are in the custody of the Salem County Humane Society where they are receiving medical evaluations, bathing, and grooming. Animal cruelty charges are pending and will be filed in the near future. The rescue and removal of these dogs that had been living in horrific conditions and their transportation takes priority over the animal cruelty charges being filed. Now that all animals are in a safe environment NJSPCA will move forward with filing charges. The removal of 20+ dogs is a costly but necessary action and now NJSPCA is asking for your donations to help care for these dogs. Capt
