To First Nation citizens who have been following the First Nations - TopicsExpress

To First Nation citizens who have been following the First Nations Control of First Nations Education Act- CONGRATULATIONS! The bill is now dead and the Minister of Indian Affairs (aka the apprentice Valcourt) has come out and stated that there will be no new money for education because we didnt fold to their demands- as if we believed his Sith Lord the Prime Sinister was ever going to provide new funding in the first place. Fine- let them take home their toys from the sandbox and spew their same old media messaging bullshit. We can take solace in the fact that we will not have a contemporary residential school era where our children are forced out of our languages and cultures to become token Canadian indians. We won this battle over education- granted theres much more fighting left to do, but for now- round 1 on education goes to the righteous over the evil empire. We proved that when we stand united as students, parents, chiefs, women and elders, our voices do matter and in fact, it forced the privileged AFN Executive to stop compromising our rights for government funding. We did our ancestors proud by standing up in front of our children and standing beside each other on one very specific priority- education. Eff their funding arrangements- its not like were wealthy people and their taking away our riches...as if we dont know what its like to be poor- when it comes to capitalism on our land, all we know is poor, but at least we are doing whats right and that will last a hell of a lot longer than a government cheque that threatens to eliminate our languages and our sovereignty. Our wealth is in our values, our unity and our integrity. We did not accept promised money to look the other way while the government put its dirty fingernails on our schools- again (for the uninformed google Residential Schools in Canada). I for one am very proud of you, of me, and of all of us for standing up for our past, present and our future. We will never let the residential school era onto our lands ever again. That time is over. Its time for a fresh start with our freedom to choose firmly intact. So to the Minister of Indian Affairs who responded by saying that there will be no new money in education without government education reform- I think I can speak in consideration of a general sentiment when I say, take your reform partys money, find a boat and go back to whatever land your education ideals came from, and leave our lands and resources exactly where they were when you got here, then we can talk about new money. Have a nice day :)
