To Members of the April, 1964 Graduating Class of the Samboan Central Elementary School: Classmates, it has been 50 years since we graduated from the Samboan Central Elementary School. We belong to a different world. We were part of the baby boomers. We had no electricity, computers, calculators or celphones. We did our homework by the flickering light of a kerosene lamp. Our teachers were the best. And they did teach and instruct us and were great disciplinarians. We played hide and seek, siatong, tubig-tubig and japanese game. Our dance was the sway balance and the heel and toe and we danced atop the bangko. We quarreled about who was more beautiful Amalia Fuentes or Susan Roces Our graduation rites were lighted by a pressure lamp called petromax. There was no photographer to record the event. As you attend the graduation rites of your grandchildren on April 2 this year, try to coax your long buried memories, and remember our own. Many of us have gone to the great beyond: Violeta, Irving, Virgilia, Virgiliana and I dont know who else. Remember them too in your prayers. Cheers!
