To My Friends and Family, I am writing this letter today reaching out to everyone, and anyone, for help in probably the most important matter I have faced in my lifetime. Most people who will read this have been involved in my life in some way, and know I have a 6 year old grandson named Dominic Lee Colantuono. Young Dominic and his father (my son Paul) proudly tell strangers that his name (Dominic) means “Belonging to The Lord”, a topic they are both very proud of, and one I find very interesting. Not only because of his desire to be involved in Church, but also because of the way Dominic speaks so matter-of-fact on His Love. He projects a wisdom beyond his years that shocks us on a daily basis. Recently Paul told Dominic that he loved his son more than anything in the world, Dominic then protested to his father “Daddy, you have to love God more than anything.”. Its amazing that he not only said that basic truth, but that he spoke it with authority and without the slightest hint of question in his voice. I am telling you all of this because we need help keeping Dominic stable and safe. Unfortunately, Dominic’s parents are going through a divorce. I am not going to bash his parents, as they have done their best to provide for him, as well as love him. Dominic’s mother suffers from hereditary mental illness (Bi-Polar Mani Depression), which has gone untreated by choice for many years she is a pathological liar as well. Neither of his parent’s have received the Professional Medical treatment that they need. Ideally we all want Dominic with his parents, and for his parents to be well and stable. At the moment that is not an option as they cannot communicate or cooperate consistently. Unfortunately, Dominic has witnessed his mother’s outbursts of rage and anger towards his father, his maternal grandparents and myself. Gratefully he has not witnessed the physical abused his father endured over the years. Dominic now suffers from anxiety, and anger management, I have him seeing a Psychologist on a weekly bases. It breaks my heart to see my grandson go through this and affect him in the manner it has. In the past 18 months Dominic has lived in 6 different homes and is now stable and safe with me and my family. This is were I need your help. I have been Subpoenaed to Court on Sept 10.2013 to return Dominic to his mother. I just can’t sit back and allow the Courts to place him back in his mother’s care until she gets the Medical Help she so needs and has a safe, loving, caring and stable environment for my grandson to live in. He deserves a better life then what he has received so far and honestly we are all Dominic has. He lived with his maternal grandfather for 7 months, who admits to spanking him, so sorry I do not like when someone leaves marks on a child when they spank them. Dominic is deathly afraid of him now and does not want to be left alone with him. My son is not stable and neither is his mother to take care of him at this point and time in their lives. I swore to my grandson when he came to live with me on June 18,2013 I would do my best to keep him from harms way, please help me keep this promise. I am trying my best to outline what has taken place. Last week I contacted numerous Lawyers asking countless questions pertaining to my rights as a grandparent and what their fees would be, I found this wonderful woman Alison Meyers she spent an hour talking to me and then she called me the next day and spent another hour with me not asking me for a penny for her precious time, unlike the other Lawyers all they worried about was money!. In saying this I would LOVE to retain Alison as my Lawyer to seek Custody of Dominic this is were I need your help.
