To: National Bar Association Region 8, NBA Missouri Affiliates Mound City Bar Association and Kansas City Bar Association and NBA Members Licensed to Practice Law in Missouri or who are willing to be Admitted Pro Hac Vice From: President Pamela J. Meanes On the heels of the St. Louis County Grand Jury Decision, the National Bar Association is issuing a “CALL TO ACTION” to attorneys in Region 8, Missouri affiliate chapters Mound City Bar Association and Kansas City Bar Association, and NBA members who are licensed to practice in Missouri and/or willing or interested in being admitted on a Pro Hac Vice basis to assist. Historically, the National Bar Association has played a critical role in protecting the civil rights of all. Continuing in that tradition, I am asking ALL National Bar Association members who are licensed to practice in law in Missouri or any attorney who is not licensed in Missouri but is willing to be admitted on a pro hac vice basis to: 1. PROVIDE LEGAL REPRESENTATION: On the day of and days after the grand jury announcement we will need NBA members to provide legal representation to those individuals who are arrested for exercising their constitutional rights. The following assistance is being requested: provide legal advice, conduct jail visits and/or provide legal representation. Please note that any attorney that is license can attend jail visits regardless of state admission. If you are a member of Mound City Bar, please contact President Kendra Howard at president@moundcitybar. All others should contact please contact Attorney Armis Donnell, chair of the NBA Pro Bono Committee at Armis.donell@gmail. 2. RESOURCE CENTERS: In support of the above, the National Bar Association will need volunteers who are trained in the legal field or law students who can conduct research, provide legal support to lawyers, draft NOA, and other E-filings notices on behalf of the attorneys. In addition, we will need volunteers to help coordinate the lawyer to client and volunteer to lawyer relationships. 3. TOWN HALL: The National Bar Association needs volunteers and community leaders to organize same day town-hall meetings, social media blackout and Facebook victims campaign.
